The Wendigo is a legendary creature originating from the folklore of the Algonquian peoples of North America. According to the stories, it is a gigantic, gaunt, and emaciated humanoid being whose hunger can never be satisfied. Legend says that a person who resorts to cannibalism or gives in to extreme greed may transform into a Wendigo. Witnesses often describe a monster with dried skin, glowing eyes, and unnaturally long limbs. In the snowy forests of Canada and the northern United States, the Wendigo remains one of the most feared creatures in Native American folklore.
